The natural therapeutic source of "Bílina acidulous water" used for therapeutic purposes is located in Bílina municipality, district Most, and has been used since 18th century. Currently certified - as a natural therapeutic source of mineral waters for therapeutic use - by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic is subsoil water collected through BJ 6 well situated in Bílina cadastral area. The water is quite strongly mineralized, carbonic, of alkaline-acid sodium-bicarbonate type, with an increased content of fluorides; cold and hypotonic. The water meets the requirements of legal regulations of the Czech Republic for mineral waters used for therapeutic purposes. For the protection of the spring structure, preservation zones were established through the Decree of the North-Bohemian Regional Government Authority, effective as of 24 September 1985.
As a way of reviewing adherence to the terms and conditions of utilization of resources, cyclic measurements of selected parameters are conducted. Invariably performed is continuous monitoring of micro-biological wholesomeness, combined with control and comprehensive analyses of water. The fulfilment of requirements placed on the utilization and protection of natural mineral water is checked by the Ministry of Health and through the Reference laboratory of natural healing resources, set up thereby.
